After a six-year hiatus, we're excited to announce the comeback of Ocean Lava to the Mumbles Triathlon in 2023.
In both the sprint and middle-distance categories, the top three male and female athletes will qualify for the Ocean Lava World Championships in Lanzarote on October 21st this year or can defer to 2024. With 12 prestigious spots up for grabs, it's set to be a thrilling conclusion to the season.
The Mumbles Triathlon, now in its 13th year, is one of the UK's longest-standing events. It starts with a stunning sea swim in Swansea Bay, followed by a challenging bike course through the renowned Gower Peninsula. The race finishes with a fast and flat run along the scenic seafront, ending on the famous Activity Wales Events red carpet. It's the go-to race for clubs and individual athletes to close out the UK racing calendar.
Race Director Matthew Evans expressed his excitement, "We're thrilled to host the Ocean Lava UK qualifiers again. Kenneth and his team's athlete-first ethos aligns with our goals. We can't wait to see you on Volcano Island again!
